Since moving his studio to Whitstable three years ago this is the first time Matthew has opened it to the public. Matthew works with paint, photography, sculpture and collage and has called this open studio show ‘Amalgam’. The aim of ‘Amalgam’ is to give an overview of the work that he makes; from smaller scale collages to larger installations. Though the works are often abstract they take their cue from places, structures and landscapes that he passes through and experiences on a daily basis. The works are made from a mixture of responses to different environments and moments, hence the title of this open studio: ‘Amalgam’.
