Heterotopias within Whitstable Harbour are explored by examination of the oyster. Tensions between constructedness and spectatorship within anthropology and the indexical image are investigated.
Ben Hunt is an experimental video artist/ photographer based in South East Kent.
His research interests are in the boundaries between the still and moving image, medium specificity/ reflexivity, visual anthropology, experimental ethnography, psychogeography, liminal coastline architecture, site specificity.
The title for his current thesis is: ‘How can reflexive indexical image making expand the visual communication of geographic liminal space’?
For the Satellite he will be displaying a series of photographs that respond to the heterotopias that exist within the Whitstable Harbour.
