From black to white and back to black. ‘Dark light’ is a phrase used by the poet Friedrich Hölderlin to suggest a twofold event – illumination and annihilation – wherein light and dark are not seen consecutively, but together.
Showing in the Summerhouse at 9 Warwick Road, Dark Light is a work in which sculptural ceramics, moving image and spoken performance combine to question what it means to construct an identity in a diverse culture.
Entrance to the event is via the gate at the side of the house. There will be a 15-minute spoken performance at 3pm. The film installation will be available to view on a loop until 5pm.
